Paky Vlassopoulou (b. 1985) is an artist who lives and works in Athens, Greece. Her work is informed by the dialectics of traditional sculpture making in relation to spatial issues, object hood, functionality and bodily experiences. From time to time she is concerned with thematic that deals with knowledge production, history, ruins and lately with issues revolving around the service providing industries by questioning the role of care and hospitality. Often her work takes the form of an event, open to participation and discussion.Her work has been exhibited in solo projects in Athens, Antwerp, Cologne and Prague. Selected group shows include: Phenomenon 3, The Association Phenomenon and the Kerenidis Pepe Collection, Anafi Island, Greece, 2019, The Equilibrists, a project by the New Museum, New York and the DESTE Foundation, Benaki Museum, Athens, Greece, 2017, Reverb:New Art from Greece, School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, USA, 2014, A Thousand Doors, commissioned by NEON Foundation and The Whitechapel Gallery, Gennadius Library/ American School, Athens, Greece, 2014. In 2018 she was a fellow of Artworks– Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) Artist Fellowship Program and from September 2019 to November 2019 she is a resident at International Studio & Curatorial Program (ISCP) in New York City, USA. She is part of Reshape Network, a two-year European research and development project.
