Željka Aleksić graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna, Department of Contextual Painting. She entered the Academy under the mentorship of Ashley Hans Scheirl while graduating with Despina Stokou. Lately, she has been expressing herself through painting, performance and performative sculpture, with a special focus on the insecurity faced by working women in the domain of i precarious work conditions.
With her graduation work Das Kapital 2017-2023, through her artistic practice, she examines the economic situation of a student of a prestigious academy, but from the position of a person with old work experience, given that she comes from a working family and also from the so-called third world. It begs the question, how much does it cost to become an artist?
First prize for a diploma at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna. Stipendium study program / Scholarship study program - creative cluster. Kunsthalle Wien 2023 prize for participation in the exhibition of awarded students for the year 22/23. Finalist of the Dimitrije Bašičević Mangelos Award 2023 in Serbia.

Željka Aleksić
My artistic practice is based on an attempt to show a lived experience from different perspectives, subjective, objective and mediated images on social networks.
I occasionally deal with banal metaphors that aim to show the trivial seriousness of the society and the individual, in the need to speak first-hand about one’s virtues and flaws.
All this art represents the life experience of a woman in her third decade of life with all the advantages and disadvantages that her mind and body have passed through, physical when it comes to beauty, but also social and economic, particularly social expectations in which she currently lives.
