In order to connect the program of WHW Akademija and its participants with the local scene, in January 2020 was realized the collaboration with the international seminar Circulation of feminist ideas in the European socialist states whose iteration in Zagreb was conceptualized and realized by Ljiljana Kolešnik and Sanja Horvatinčić from the Institute for Art History. The participants of WHW Akademija were invited as guests of the seminar attended by art historians of younger generation whose research touches upon the context of post-socialist Europe and puts the stress on feminist issues.

The exhibition…who is speaking, on whose behalf and for whom? was initiated by the participants of WHW Akademija who presented themselves to the seminar attendees through the format of a day long exhibition/action created in their working and artistic space, namely the WHW office, instead through presenting their artistic portfolios.

It is a hybrid format of the modular exhibition/action/group consultation/open studio/guided tour/meeting/xx which comprises newly created and earlier works as well as the work in progress. Those are fragments, working processes, open forms, ongoing research, exercises, seeds of future ideas, newly created collaborations, dialogues that include found materials, traces and sediments of the conducted intensives and collaborations of WHW Akademija. who is speaking, on whose behalf and for whom? examines a wide range of topics related to performativity, geopolitical identities of the periphery, gender and labour, conditions of an art world and technology. In the words of Neža Knez, one of the artists in WHW Akademija, it is … communication of the views, movements, voices. Communication with me and you, us and them, communication between objects, spaces. In this process the curatorial voice is blended in the polyphony of many parallel dynamics in which artists’ voices assume agency by inscribing the experience of creating the space and time of WHW Akademija.
