In March 2020 WHW Akademija visited OAZA collective for speed dating with Columbian artist Tatiana Lozano who runs an independent Gallery PALMERA in Bergen.
The ultimate purpose of your gut instinct is to protect you.
Artist and curator Tatiana Lozano was visiting Oaza with a small presentation about her practice through love, clear-vision, gut feelings and –p a l m e r a–, artist-run space where she is the accomplice of the projects and spontaneous programming happening since 2018.
Tatiana Lozano was born in Bogotá, Colombia with the sun in Gemini, rising Pisces and the moon in Libra. She currently lives and works in Bergen, Norway with her cat perla-negra and a bunch of plants named after friends, family, lovers… sometimes named by her grandma while they video-chat. Her curatorial practice explores intangible narratives as a result of chemistry and comradeship with the artists; Through sensitive listening and careful observation of their process and works, Tatiana provides herself as a resource through teamwork, communication and complicity, while seeking for alternative bias where power dynamics could be less pyramidal within hierarchical structures, better as open constellations.
–p a l m e r a– is preoccupied with alternative ways of exhibition making, with the aim to provide an arena for dialogue and experimentation of newly commissioned and existing projects that would like to enter in conversation with the space and are willing to take a risk. –p a l m e r a’s– structure reinvents on every exhibition in response to every individual project and artist, functioning alternatively in rhythm with contemporary art practices and manifestations that resonate with a transformative and constant developing nature.
The presentation is part of the ongoing collaboration initiated in October 2019 with Oaza’s introduction in Bergen at Hordaland Kunstsenter.
