Through a series of seminars, presentations, collaborative exercises, discussions, workshops, collective actions WHW Akademija summer school initiated intense exchange between the participants, professorial team and the local setting.

The professorial team including Ivana Bago, Vlatka Horvat, Pablo Martínez and WHW engaged in intense dialogue with the artists of the 4th edition of WHW Akademija: Darko Aleksovski, Željko Beljan, Diana Cantarey, Adrijana Gvozdenović, Maksym Khodak, Nadežda Kirćanski, Stela Mikulin, Ruoru Mou, Kristina Pashkova, Christian Sleiman, Bojan Stojčić, and Huda Takriti.

The summer school took place from May 9 – 15 at the Youth Culture Centre Ribnjak, Pogon Jedinstvo, Gallery Nova, WHW office and public spaces in Zagreb.

Conceived as practical experimental research based workshop Vlatka Horvat’s intensive BETWEEN US negotiated the nature of encounter between human and non-human agents. It started few weeks earlier in digital space only to unfold in physical space via numerous performative and process-based outcomes developed by the participants. The seminar by Pablo Martínez Dissolving the self. Becoming many. On images, bodies and crowds. explored urgencies related to the emancipatory collective gestures in public space through discussions and practical group exercises. As a part of the program Ivana Bago initiated Back to Square Zero, a practical workshop and a group process that will continue in following moths to be manifested in October 2022 when the group will meet in Zagreb again.“WHW Akademija summer school has proven to be a place of experiment, co-learning and togetherness, looking and listening, a place of being together and caring for each other.” stated Ana Dević, member of WHW collective at the closing of the summer school of the 4th edition of WHW Akademija.

We would like to thank Pogon Jedinstvo and Youth Culture Centre Ribnjak for the collaboration on realizing the program.
