WHW Akademija and WHW collective are expressing our collective support to our dear colleague, a researcher and educator Pablo Martínez. He has been recently abruptly dismissed as Head of Public Programmes at the Museu d’Art Contemporani de Barcelona / MACBA as a consequence of reconfiguration of the institutional structure.

The shocking news we have received while finishing the third edition of WHW Akademija in which he participated as a member of professorial team. His position at MACBA was one of the crucial voices that advocated and tested new models of critical pedagogies and speculated about the possibilities of an eco-socialist museum. Departure of Pablo Martínez from MACBA puts at risk the PEI Independent Studies Program and many other MACBA projects herald by Pablo, such as long-term project “Education from Below” on which we collaborate together with our colleague Emily Pethick of Rijksakademie, Amsterdam.

In solidarity, we are publically sharing Pablo’s open letter with more details and consequences of this unjust event.

We also encourage you to sign the PETITION LETTER.
